Parents’ Association

Simply put, the Parents’ Association (PA) is a way for SJPDS families to come together to build community, support our school, and create fun and meaningful experiences for our students.

The purpose of the Parents’ Association (PA) is to promote a sense of community among the parents, teachers, staff, and administration and to provide strong communication between parents and the school. We also assist in the preservation of the unique culture and atmosphere of the school by promoting the pledge and mission, and sponsoring activities, events and programs that enrich our students’ educational experience.

1. Promoting a sense of community among the parents and the teaching and administrative staff, by sponsoring activities, events, and programs that enrich our children’s educational experience.
2. Providing a strong communication link between parents and the school, including the teaching and administrative staff, and Board of Trustees.
3. Assisting in the maintenance of the unique culture and atmosphere of the school by promoting the school’s pledge and mission.
4. Raising funds to support the budget of the Parents’ Association.

Did you know that if you have a student at SJPDS, you’re automatically a member of the PA? No sign-up, dues, registration, or special commitment required – if your child is enrolled at SJPDS, you’re already a member!

Being a member of the PA means you’re welcome to attend our General Meetings, held virtually on the second Thursday of each month, as well as the many community events we host throughout the school year.

There are so many ways to participate, and you can choose what works best for your schedule and interests. You can help run an event, plan a new one, serve as a room parent, coordinate an activity, support a fundraiser, or simply like or share a PA social media post. Every bit of involvement helps strengthen our school community! Our Linktree will always have our current volunteer opportunities posted. While the exact programs may change, the PA generally strives to do at least a few of the same community events each year:

• BooHoo/Yahoo Social on the first day of school
• Fall Family Fun Day
• School Variety Show
• SJPDS day at Camden Yards

The PA raises funds in a variety of ways. These may include:

• Used uniform sales 
• Spirit wear sales 
• Fall Charleston Wrap sale
• Spring flower sale
• Summer School Tool Box sale
• Restaurant nights

These are just a few of the things we did with the PA funds last year: 

• Hospitality breakfasts and luncheons
• Teacher appreciation
• Fifth grade tee shirts
• Kona ice at field day
• PA events throughout the year
• SJPDS Endowment Fund (10% of PA profits)
