SJPDS Celebrates Diwali!

This week, we learned about and celebrated Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights! Diwali is a special holiday from Indian culture that celebrates light shining over darkness and good winning over evil. We were so lucky to have parents visit some of our classes to share their traditions! Some of our EC students made their own diyas- small oil lamps made of clay- and had traditional sweet treats. A few of our students even came to school dressed in traditional Indian clothing and shared their family traditions. It was a wonderful celebration!
