Last Wednesday, before we all left for Spring Break, our fifth graders had their final Life Prep session with Mrs. Richardson. This last session is always held as a nice dinner, with students setting the tables, lighting candles, saying a prayer, and enjoying polite conversation, which gives them an opportunity to call on all they have learned to demonstrate their manners and knowledge of proper behavior. Mrs. Richardson was kind enough to serve, while Ms. Grubb, Mrs. Grosso, and Mrs. Kozak were invited to attend. The guests could not have had a better time dining and chatting with the young adults that our fine, upstanding fifth graders demonstrated themselves to be. A night of prayer and maturity that celebrates growth from childhood through education into respectful citizens, the final Life Prep dinner is an event that showcases how our fifth graders have grown to internalize all of the Five Gifts that we teach at St. John's. Truly a fitting capstone for the full curriculum that develops our students into confident and respectful citizens, while sustaining the wonder and possibility of childhood.
