Spirit Week at St. John's is always a fun week, but this year was absolutely incredible! Each year, our students learn about one of the 5 Gifts of St. John's daily and participate in activities celebrating that specific gift. Since our Global Partner is Kenya Connect, our Bears also learned about Kenya, African culture, and practiced being kind and understanding throughout the week! They learned songs and dances, read books about Kenya, watched videos about life in Kenya, and participated in our Annual Walk for Wamunyu on Friday!
Our Spirit Week focuses on what it means to be part of St. John's and how our gifts impact our community and can be implemented in all aspects of our students' lives. Our Five Gifts are symbolized in our SJPDS logo and are listed below!
- The Leaf (Green Day) symbolizes “the development of confident, independent thinkers, people of character, and respectful citizens connected to our local and global communities.” It also symbolizes our green school standing.
- The Heart (Red Day) symbolizes “a loving, caring, supportive environment where childhood is preserved and celebrated.”
- The Cross (the center of the logo White Day) symbolizes “spiritual growth through faith formation grounded in the Christian tradition.”
- The Acorn (Brown Day)symbolizes “wonder and possibility, where opportunities for discovery abound.”
- The Flame (Yellow Day)symbolizes “innovative curriculum and teachers who know and serve each student as they grow academically, socially, and spiritually.”
We are so blessed to have such a spirited community of students, family members, faculty, and staff! Go Bears!
