St. John's Parish Day School has partnered with St. John's Episcopal Church to provide Christmas cheer to families from Collington Square in Baltimore for over 30 years. Each year, as a school, we provide unwrapped new toys for these families in need. This school year's collection was from December 3rd to December 17th, 2021. Each class was assigned a family or two to provide toys for during this Holiday Season. Thanks to the generous donations of the SJPDS families, we were able to gift toys to over 65 children in 34 families for Christmas. Student Council members helped collect the donations using Santa collection bags, and staff members helped sort the donations.
A Note of Gratitude From the St. John's Outreach Committee:
Thank you to everyone in our wonderful church and school community who donated to the St. John’s Outreach Holiday Basket Ministry. The outpouring of support from both our parishioners and day school families was simply amazing!
The response to our needs filled baskets for 34 Collington Square families and 18 ARC of Howard County group homes. The monetary donations that went towards our grocery store gift cards were also a success. And then there were the toys! The Day School families filled a classroom with mounds of toys, games, and everything fun! Their thoughtfulness not only filled a large bag for each of the 34 families but enabled a “toy pantry” to be established that will reach the Collington Community far and wide.
The Outreach Committee truly thanks one and all for your giving spirit during this Christmas season. You have made the lives of so many, so much brighter!
Blessings for a new year filled with love, peace, and good health,
Bonnie Sturm and Diane Standeven
