One of the most important attributes of our school is the family atmosphere and spirit of community, which we are maintaining at this time of distance learning and social distancing. To help us stay connected, we are having community-building activities to maintain and encourage school spirit and positivity. Check out some of our splendid activities!
Virtual Spirit Week (April 20-24)
We asked our families to show school spirit with a variety of fun activities. Students celebrated by dressing up for each day's theme, writing thank you messages, coloring in our school logo and making window displays. Thank you to our community for showing their St. John's spirit! Go Bears!
“Week of Appreciation and the Arts” (April 13-17)
To show appreciation, we asked students to write a letter or make an artwork that shows their appreciation for the individuals in their lives that are helping them through this time. Maybe it is an essential worker, maybe it is a neighbor or a family member. Anyone that they would like to celebrate with thanks! Additionally, this week we also celebrate our fabulous teachers for all their hard work and dedication!
Easter Week Project (April 6-9)
Mrs. Bentivenga's Kindergarten and First Grade science scholars thought like engineers as they problem-solved and completed many fun Easter STEM challenges such as building an Easter basket, an egg launcher, and a jelly bean tower using supplies found at home!
Drive-Thru Distance Learning Packet Pick-Up (April 6)
We held a drive-thru pick-up of additional distance learning materials for our students! A small group of our dedicated faculty and staff helped to assemble and distribute these materials while practicing social distancing, wearing gloves and masks. We continue to work hard to ensure our Distance Learning Program continues to engage our students, inspire learning, and provide the connection to friends and teachers that is so important during this time.
