#NewToSJPDS

Hi! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Tami Cramer, and I am the new second grade teacher at St. John's. I am so excited for my new position, but I am not new to St. John's. I have taught here for 14 years, nine of which were teaching third grade and the past 5 as the Physical Education teacher.  I received my BA in Elementary Education from Elon University, and have taken numerous courses over the years to remain current, including classes most recently through Howard County's Continuing Education Program, “Creating a Culturally Responsive Classroom” and “Worksheets Don't Grow Dendrites.”

St John's has been a perfect fit, as I particularly enjoy working with smaller class sizes and our ability to teach to our student's individual needs and interests. I consider myself blessed to be working with such wonderful families, students, and co-workers.  In addition to teaching, St. John's has also provided me the opportunity to grow personally, through my recent appointment as Board Faculty Representative, coordinating our Pen Pal and fundraising program with Kenya Connect, as well as leading Student Council.  My own children both attended St. John's from Early Childhood all the way through fifth grade. My daughter is currently attending the University of South Carolina, and my son will be a senior at Catonsville High School in the fall.

I am so thankful for the strong foundation they received at St. John's, which has allowed them to thrive academically and socially.  In our free time my husband, Steve, and I enjoy playing golf, traveling, and hanging out with friends. Second grade is such a pivotal year as students are becoming more independent, and I am looking forward to fully preparing my students for their next adventure "upstairs"!
